The Narendra Modi government is now mulling replacing Governors who were appointed by the UPA-II government. Sources have told CNN-IBN that the government is likely to change the Governors of Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Punjab.

The Governor of Uttar Pradesh is BL Joshi, Kerala - Sheila Dikshit, Punjab - Shivraj Patil, Madhya Pradesh - Ram Naresh Yadav and West Bengal - MK Narayanan.

Former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit was appointed as the Governor of Kerala following poll debacle in the Assembly elections in December last year.

The government is likely to ask President Pranab Mukherjee to ask for their resignation.

Sources said apart from BL Joshi, no one has resisted the move.

Earlier, sources added that a change is in the offing in the poll bound state of Maharashtra. BJP veteran Murli Manohar Joshi was being seen as front runner for the post.
