New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on his first overseas visit, has now been invited for another foreign tour. This time he has been invited by Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff to watch the FIFA World Cup 2014 finals. However, there is no confirmation yet as to whether or not Modi has accepted the invitation.

Earlier this month, Modi had released commemorative postage stamps on the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He had said that sports brings about a spirit of amity and belongingness among nations of the world. "May the FIFA World Cup become a bridge for connecting nations together," he had said.

Modi had said that India is preparing to host the under-17 FIFA World Cup. He added that India had a glorious history in football, and it was at one time a prominent sport across the country. He had urged the Department of Posts to also develop a website on the history of Indian football.

There is no confirmation yet as to whether or not Modi has accepted the invitation.

Modi, who is on a 2-day visit to Bhutan, stressed on the importance of sports while addressing the country's Parliament on Monday too. "I thought - all Himalayan states and Bhutan - can we not do a special sports meet on a regular basis? Sportsman spirit brings happiness," Modi said on Monday.
